Prince of Peace

I love this stamp from Unity called Prince of Peace. I can't help but sing "Jesus is the reason we celebrate the season" while I was making this card.

I've embossed the image with copper embossing powder, matted it on choc paper, used some ruffled chocolate ribbon from my stash & copper cord on top of the ribbon. I also used the tree embossing folder on a layer of white to create some texture behind the image.

Tidings of comfort and joy!

I love making Christmas cards for friends and family. Every year I say I'm going to start earlier but never do. Today is December 16th and I'm still working on cards. Here is one of them. Stamp is from set called word play by Stampin Up. I used some discontinued dp with old olive and certainly celery cs. Blue ribbon and silver cord are both from Michaels.

Baby thank you cards

Mason Robert Tensen was born on August 29, 2011.
18.5inches long and 6lbs
My inspiration for our thank you cards came from this card on Trish's blog.

I made about thirty of these using the medallion stamp from Stampin Up, inked it with VersaMark, stamped it off center on various shaded of blue paper and used white embossing powder. Martha Stewart border punch along the right side of blue paper and wrapped co-ordinating blue ribbon around. Tag was created using a spellbinders label, chalk in around the edges and a Thank You stamp in black.

New Chair Covers (non-paper project)

What was I thinking when I purchased our kitchen table with chairs that had white seats? Clearly this was a purchase PRE-children. Tori is just about two and is refusing to sit in her highchair, booster seat, etc. She must be in a chair just like mommy and daddy. So needless to say we have mac&cheese, yogurt, jello, etc. smeard all over the white chairs. Well the other day I decided to take apart all the chairs and wash the white covers before her birthday party. Great idea! Until they all shrunk in the washer/dryer... hmmm... now what to do. My idea was to go to the fabric store, buy some fabric & plastic cover to re-apolster the chairs that way I could just wipe the chairs. My DH suggested buying a vinyl table cloth and staple that to the chairs, wipe them down when messy, easy peasy! What a great idea, and very cheap! I found this table cloth in a clearance bin at Superstore for $5.
I got out my tools, scissors, screwdriver, staple gun and staples and got to work.
Here's a veiw of the underside of the seat cushion.
And here is a photo of one finished chair. The grey with white flowers looks really nice with the light wood of the chairs. Our counter tops & tile is a green/grey color which also complitments these chairs.
Over all I'm really happy with this project!

Happy Anniversary!

Our very good friends are celebrating 15 wonderful years of marriage this week! I made this special card for them. I used some DP from Close To My Heart, spellbinders to cut out those adorable hedgehogs from Penny Black and a few copics to color, I can't remember when the buttons came from but they match the hollyhock paper pretty good.

Mother's Day Cards (done early this year, I usually make them on Saturday!)

Celebrating Mothers day this weekend, I'm usually a last minute card maker. But last night I got a call from my parents, they are coming home on Saturday! I haven't seen my mom since the middle of December when we celebrated an early Christmas! I'm so excited to see her and show her my baby belly ;)

I wanted to create a special card for my mum, so I went searching on http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ and found a great tutorial on tri-shutter cards. I was able to ink up two new stamps to my collection. Fairy Tale Belle and Swiss Pixies Heidi amont the flowers both from CC Designs. Both girls were colored with copics, sorry I forgot to keep them out to list for you. Cardstock used was from CTMH Hollyhock and Olive. DP, ribbon, stickers, buttons were from Stampin Up (Ice Cream Parlor)

Now I just need to decide which card to give to my mum and which to give to DH mom... any suggestions?

Easter Bunnies

I love Easter! I have such great memories of my great aunt June making special gifts for us each year. Crochet Bunnies with suits for the boys and a dress on mine, Chickens with a plastic egg inside with a baby chick, canvis easter baskets are just a couple of my treasures from Aunt June.

I wanted to do the same for my daughter and her teenage cousins. When I saw these bunnies on Splitcoast I just knew I had to recreate them. I filled the boys bunnies with choc eggs and kinder surprise and Victoria's had a few choc eggs and a playdough chicken. Maybe next year she'll like the chocolates.

Have a bright, sunshiney day

I made this spring inspired card last week for the SC327 challenge on splitcoast. I finally inked up my favorite things stamp and put it to use. I have to admit I have a few uninked stamps... it is my misson to ink them or sell them before our second baby arrives. Hopefully with playing along with challenges such as Tuesdays color challenge, Wednesdays sketch challenge and Fridays Queen for the day challenge I will be able to ink up some stamps, use up some ribbons and bling and most importantly GIVE away some wonderful cards to all the special people in my life!

Queen for the Day Challenge #53

Splitcoast has some amazing talented ladies that post in the galleries weekly if not daily. The Queen for the Day Challenge is picked on a Friday. Everyone is invited to play, you look through the Queen's gallery and honor her talents by recreating one of her cards.  This challenge was brought to my attention by TrishG. I had so much fun recreating this card by Karen I can't wait to see who is choosen to be the Queen for the Day this Friday. If you have time and would like to play here's the link for the challenges.
