Library Bag

My dear friend is an avid reader. Since I don't have her current book wish list I decided to create something for her to carry her books in. I purchase a plain linen tote bag from Michael's on one of the 25% off everything days.

I had some red iron on in my stash (yes I am a craft supply hoarder but I usually have what I need when I'm crafting late at night) I found the read quote in the make now projects in cricut's design space. With iron on you have to remember to lay the shiny side down and cut the writing using the mirror image button. It will cut using a kissing technique which means it will cut the iron on and not the plastic layer. Next I had to remove the negative image (this process is called weeding) and took a LONG TIME!

Next step was to set the iron on a high setting and position the read quote on the bag. I set my iron a little too hot and ended up melting the word "aloud" I had to remove part of the "u" and recut and iron the L and U back on. Lesson learnt! Over all I'm very pleased with the end product and I'm sure my friend will love it

Cottage Chairs

Today I inked up three stamps. One is a favorite sentiment from Petite Pairs, the other two had never been inked. The cottage chairs are from Unity Stamps and the background is from the new Work of Art set from Stampin Up.  My inspiration came from my friend's gallery on Splitcoast Stampers. Here is Trish's card I really loved the layout, changed the shapes and left off the ribbon as this card was mailed to by brother for his birthday. I could not locate my piercing tool in my crafting mess, I really like that look of the added texture around the oval that Trish used.

And here's my card for today...

Retro Sketches 108

Back again with another birthday card. This one is for our middle nephew.
I used some Heidi Swapp specialty card stock sprayed it with her color shine in mustard color. On e that was dry I mounted the slate grey paper and stamped the happy birthday in lagoon  on white. My newest favorite is the shimmer trim from Close to my Heart. This card features the teal, is so sparkly and is pretty sticky on the back. I think I just need black to complete my collection. :)

The layout for this card comes from Retro Sketches 108

Alcohol inks!

Here are a couple of cards I made after attending a tag class with Chelsey at Personal Touch Scrapbooking. One of the tags was using alcohol inks on glossy paper to create beautiful backgrounds.

I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks (Eggplant, Pool, Silver) and the blending solution to create the soft spot for the sentiment. Stamps used were random stamps from Unity Stamps Co.
